Democrats focus on House of Delegates redistricting

virginia general assemblyDel. David Toscano (D-Charlottesville) and Del. Charniele Herring (D-Alexandria) issued the following statements on the Supreme Court’s ruling regarding Virginia’s congressional districts.

“We welcome the Supreme Court’s final decision regarding Virginia’s congressional districts. Sadly, the House of Delegates remains gerrymandered into a Republican majority. We call on our colleagues across the aisle to embrace a non-partisan redistricting plan that would allow Virginians to pick their politicians, not for politicians to pick their constituents.” – Del. David Toscano, Leader of the House Democratic Caucus

“This ends the discussion over the congressional districts, but discussions over the House of Delegates districts continues. Now that Virginia has fairer congressional districts, we need fairer districts in the House of Delegates.” – Del. Charniele Herring, Chair of the House Democratic Caucus
