Mary Baldwin Theatre presents One Woman Town

Mary Baldwin College closes its 2015-2016 theatre season with the first fully staged production of One Woman Town written by Merlyn Q Sell and directed by Marshall B Garrett.

Set in a late 19th century Old Western town, this play lassos you in with its enticing characters. When a group of actors pass through the town of Golden Opportunity their citizens find themselves swept up in a whirlwind of drama as they work to put on a rendition of King Lear. Lucky struggles to win the affection of the only woman in town, Daisy Barnes, while rival outlaws Deadly Dan and The Southpaw Kid duke it out. Overflowing with suspense, romance, laughter, tears and marvelous reveals, One Woman Town is going to take you on a journey you will surely enjoy.

Sell and Garrett  both recently completed the Master of Fine Arts in Shakespeare and Performance program at Mary Baldwin. Together with an undergraduate cast and crew, they bring this beautifully crafted Western comedy to life. One Woman Town runs May 11^th-14^th at 7:30pm and May 15^th at 2:00pm.

The town outlaw Deadly Dan is played by Mary Baldwin undergraduate Virginia King. Other MBC undergrads in this production are Layla Teears as the captivating Daisy Barnes; Joellen Ogunmuyiwa as the confused Old Man; Marianna Moynihan as Peregrine and Melissa Fulton as Sue Daniels. Also starring in the show are 1^st year MLitt students Chad Marriott as The Southpaw Kid; Tyler Bruce Dale as Desmond Swank and Mary Finch as the lovesick Lucky. The bartender Joe is played by 2^nd year MLitt student Mark Pajor. Linnea Barklund, a MBC alumna, returns to the MBC stage as Doc Mort.
