Line painting on Interstate 64 in Albemarle, Louisa on Friday

Chris Graham

600px-I-64Tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 20, the Virginia Department of Transportation will be painting the center lines on Interstate 64 west from mile marker 145 in Louisa County to mile marker 126 in Albemarle County.

Beginning at 10 a.m., traffic will be reduced to one lane through the mobile work zone. If congestion develops, crews will periodically clear the work zone to allow vehicles to clear. The work is scheduled to be complete by 2 p.m.

Motorists may experience minor delays as they approach the work zone.

VDOT encourages motorists to avoid passing equipment in the work zone. A slow-moving vehicle will apply wet paint to the pavement, which is then cured by a drying vehicle to restore a safe passing environment for motorists. Passing this equipment before work is completed will cause wet paint to adhere to vehicles and compromise the quality of the pavement marking.

Updates and other real-time travel information can be found on the 511 Virginia website, the free VDOT 511 mobile app or by calling 511 from any phone in Virginia. Local updates are also posted toTwitter.com/VaDOTCulp.
