#3 Fishburne wins in opener at National Prep Showcase

Kuran Iverson and Zach Lewis returned to their home state to lead Fishburne Military School to a first-day win in the National Prep Showcase as the Caissons took down Northfield Mount Hermon 64-59 Friday night.

Northfield, the defending NEPSAC Champions, would prove to be a tough out. Played before a capacity-filled gym, the Caissons could never find a rythym offensively. Shooting a season low 42 percent from the field, it was defense that willed FMS through.

After trailing for most of the game, Fishburne would chip away in the final minutes before putting the ball in Iverson’s hands.  The 6’10″swingman got to the stripe to convert four free-throws in the final 45 seconds, before Lewis iced at the game with more at the stripe.

The duo led their team in scoring with 19 and 13, respectively, while NMH was led by Josh Hearlihy and Skyler White, who both finished with 14 points.

With Zena Edosomwan and Pete Miller out of the lineup with injury, Sem Kroon stepped up with 10 points.
