Career day for Daniel Lynch in 7-3 UVA win

No. 21 Virginia (12-7, 2-3 ACC) erupted for a five-run, seventh inning and junior Daniel Lynch (Henrico, Va.) turned in a career-day on the mound in a 7-3 victory over Boston College (7-9, 2-3 ACC). The win sets up a rubber match on Sunday (March 18) at Disharoon Park.

Men’s lacrosse: No. 7 UVA falls late at No. 4 Notre Dame, 9-7

The No. 7 Virginia Cavaliers (6-2, 0-2 ACC) dropped a heartbreaker against the No. 4 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (4-1, 1-ACC) on Saturday evening, 9-7, at Arlotta Stadium. The Cavaliers played catch-up most of the game after the Fighting Irish were up 4-0 only 4:38 into the game.

Despite allowing 11 hits, Gardner-Webb pitching held Liberty off the scoreboard throughout the afternoon, as the Runnin’ Bulldogs defeated the Flames, 6-3, at John Henry Moss Stadium, Saturday. The Flames left 12 men on base in the Big South Conference contest.

The George Washington Colonials scored the final seven runs of the game to overcome a four-run deficit and prevail, 8-5, over the VMI Keydets in the middle game of a three-game series contested Saturday in Arlington, Va. The result evened the series at one game apiece.

ACC Sixth Man of the Year De’Andre Hunter (Philadelphia, Pa.) has been ruled out for the NCAA Tournament with a broken left wrist, Virginia head coach Tony Bennett announced Tuesday (March 13). Hunter suffered the injury during the ACC Tournament. He will have surgery on March 19. Hunter is expected to be sidelined for 10 to 12 weeks.
