Robert Bob Bieri SNP missing

Update: Monday, 5:42 p.m. Shenandoah National Park has suspended the investigation into missing person Robert “Bob” Bieri. Search teams located the body of Bieri at 12:13 p.m. on Monday near Lewis Falls.

Bieri, 61, of Severna Park, Md., was reported missing on Saturday. He was last seen off-trail in the vicinity of Lewis Falls. Shenandoah National Park activated a full-scale search operation late evening on July 5.


First report: Monday, 11:31 a.m. A full-scale search operation is under way in Shenandoah National Park for a 61-year-old man reported missing on July 5.

Robert “Bob” Bieri was last seen off-trail in the vicinity of Lewis Falls near Stanley on Saturday.

He was wearing a short-sleeved red shirt, green shorts, a fanny pack, glasses and tennis shoes. He is 5’10”, 205 pounds and has grey hair and brown eyes.

The search operation is led by Shenandoah National Park Search and Rescue personnel aided by the Virginia Department of Emergency Management and Virginia State Police.

Lewis Falls Trail is a 3.3-mile loop described as moderate hike with a steep, rocky descent that leads to an 81-foot waterfall, according to the National Park Service.
