Senate confirms Patricia Millett for appeals court

The post-judicial filibusters era is off to a rousing start with the Senate confirmation Tuesday of Patricia Millett, of Alexandria to serve on the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.The Senate voted 56-38 to confirm Millett, who was blocked by a Republican filibuster on Oct. 31 in a move that prompted Senate Democrats to push for a rules change.

Schools could benefit from change to Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit

More than 1,200 of Virginia’s school buildings and facilities are 40 years or older according to a new study ordered by Gov. Bob McDonnell and concluded at the beginning of this month. The governor ordered the report in August in to demonstrate how a change to the Federal Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit could benefit the Commonwealth.
