Kaine introduces bill to help prevent heroin, prescription drug overdoses

U.S. Senators Tim Kaine (D-VA), Edward J. Markey (D-MA), and Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) introduced the Opioid Overdose Reduction Act to protect first responders, health professionals and family members who are educated in administering an opioid overdose prevention drug, such as naloxone (also known as Narcan) in an emergency situation of overdose.

Shenandoah University physician assistant program ranked in U.S. News & World Report

U.S. News & World Report has released its list of Best Graduate Schools for 2016, and Shenandoah University’s Physician Assistant Studies Program is again ranked among the best in the nation in the health disciplines category, rising from 22nd to 16th out of 141 ranked programs. Rankings for this program were last updated in 2011.

School divisions in Southwest Virginia, Richmond to benefit from grant to fight childhood hunger

Governor Terry McAuliffe and First Lady Dorothy McAuliffe announced Monday that high-poverty schools in Richmond and seven Southwest Virginia school divisions will participate in a demonstration project to reduce childhood hunger and improve food security among low-income families.
