The Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge is proud to announce the creation of a new fund, the Waynesboro Kiwanis Fund. The committee-advised fund will be used by the Waynesboro Kiwanis Club to award annual grants in the greater Waynesboro area.

Holly Rilinger won a state championship at Waynesboro High School, led James Madison to the NCAA Tournament and played in the WNBA. Not bad for a 5’4″ dynamo who was probably better suited athletically for anything other than success on a basketball court.
Holocaust survivor to speak at Waynesboro Public Library

Mark Strauss is not only a Holocaust survivor. He is also an artist and author. His presentation at Waynesboro Public Library on Thursday, October 11 will connect these two avocations to his poignant story of survival and hope as a child in Nazi-occupied Poland. The evening’s presentation, in cooperation with the Foundation for Holocaust Education Projects, starts at 6 p.m. with a segment for children and will be followed by one for adults at 7:30 p.m.
Lecture on the Battle of Waynesborough at the Gateway

WTA’s Gateway and the Waynesboro Heritage Foundation will present it second local history lecture at 7 pm on Thursday, Oct. 18. Brig. General Bill Alexander will trace the final organized resistance in the Shenandoah Valley. The lecture is free but donations are gratefully accepted. Doors open at 6:30 with open seating.
British Car Club Car Show this weekend in Waynesboro

The Shenandoah British Car Club will be holding its annual Car Show in Waynesboro beginning Friday and running through the weekend. The show is held in conjunction with the Blue Ridge Apple Festival and provides support to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.

Magic Weekend in Waynesboro

Thanks to a grant from the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge, WTA’s Gateway will host a congress of magicians for a weekend of magic in Downtown Waynesboro. The September 28-30th weekend will feature three performances at WTA’s Gateway, two magic classes, and seven performances at downtown restaurants and local venues.

The Waynesboro Economic Development Office has been awarded an Innovation Grant from the Virginia Enterprise Initiative. Funds received will be used for a student entrepreneurial business proposal competition.
