The Virginia Commonwealth University School of Education has been awarded a three-year, $615,549 evaluation extension from the U.S. Department of Education to study the long-term impact of the urban teacher residency model of teacher preparation on a beginning teacher’s professional growth and teaching effectiveness.

Governor McAuliffe announced today that Virginia is one of only three states in the country to receive a grant of more than $700,000 from the federal Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention to support its efforts to improve public safety by strengthening and reforming the reentry system and services for court-involved youth in Virginia.

The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) and the University of Virginia announced today that UVA has entered into a resolution agreement to ensure that the University’s handling of sexual violence and sexual harassment complies with the requirements of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX).
