#6 UVa. lacrosse wins over Mount St. Mary’s, 18-11

In severe to moderate rainy conditions, the No. 6 UVa. Cavaliers (4-0) used six goals from Mark Cockerton and five points from Rob Emery and Nick O’Reilly to grab an 18-11 triumph over the Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers (2-2), at the UHall Turf Field on Tuesday evening. The game was moved from Klöckner Stadium two hours prior to faceoff because of heavy rains in the Charlottesville area submerged Klöckner’s grass surface.

Senate passes resolution honoring U.S.S Enterprise

The U.S. Senate today unanimously approved a resolution offered by Sens. Jim Webb (D-Va.) and Mark R. Warner (D-Va.) commemorating the deactivation of U.S.S. Enterprise after 51 years of service and honoring the more than 100,000 current and former sailors and Marines who served aboard the aircraft carrier. The Enterprise, which was home ported in Norfolk, was the world’s first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier.
