The Staunton Convention & Visitor Bureau has received two statewide tourism awards. Staunton won the “Best in Show – Peer Judged” category. VACVB’s panel of judges also selected Staunton as the winner in the category of “Advertising/promotions for DMOs with budgets under $1 million: online and e-marketing.”

Herring has launched a two week public safety tour of Virginia in which he will hold 22 regional meetings to hear from local public safety and law enforcement leaders and local elected officials about challenges in their area and ways that he can help protect our communities.

Every year as the General Assembly session winds down, it’s important to take some time to reflect on the things that have been accomplished, the things yet to accomplish, and perhaps the missed opportunities. From 4 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 12) through 4 p.m. Thursday (Feb.13), Virginia State Police state police emergency dispatch centers fielded 4,052 calls for service. During that same 12-hour period, state troopers responded to 1,095 traffic crashes and 1,115 disabled vehicles across the Commonwealth.
