Snow is forecast for the Shenandoah Valley on Friday, ending in the early morning hours of Saturday. Amounts of three inches or less are expected in the Shenandoah Valley.

The current forecast indicates this event will drop significant snow, followed by freezing rain and ice in many areas, targeting the central region of Virginia and areas along the Interstate 81 corridor with the most extreme conditions.

The VDOT Staunton District is preparing for forecasted snow and some sleet to occur during daytime on Sunday and into overnight hours.

During the next several weeks drivers on Interstate 64 from Albemarle County to Goochland County will see crews removing trees, limbs and other debris from the highway shoulders and median.
