June 20 is National Eagle Day, and Bridgewater College is celebrating the avian appreciation day with its beloved mascot, Ernie the Eagle, and special guest Regis, a bald eagle from Three Rivers Avian Center in West Virginia.

Poets and publishers from around the world will converge upon Bridgewater College May 15-19 to celebrate poetry, creativity and the global exchange of ideas.

As hundreds of Bridgewater College graduates and their families celebrated on the campus mall Saturday, May 4, commencement speaker R. Mark Laursen urged the 400 graduates to determine what makes them come alive, and then to pursue that passion.

R. Mark Laursen, clinical associate professor in Boston University’s Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and director of Athletic Training Services, will provide Bridgewater College’s 2019 commencement address at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 4.

Bridgewater College is recognizing academic achievement during a period of activities dedicated to showcasing excellence. ASPIRE (A Celebration of the Arts, Scholarship, Performance, Innovation and Research Excellence) will be held April 5-23.

The Revolution Generation, the documentary film based on Josh Tickell’s book The Revolution Generation, How Millennials Can Save the World Before It’s Too Late, will be shown at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 28, in Cole Hall at Bridgewater College.

Bridgewater College junior political science and economics double major Iyad Hmidat was named a Newman Civic Fellow by Boston-based Campus Compact.

The many Civil War battles and campaigns fought in the Shenandoah Valley during 1864 is the topic of the 12th Annual Bridgewater College Civil War Institute, to be held from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, March 23.

Bridgewater College baseball coach Curt Kendall announced to his team Saturday evening his decision to step down as head coach of the program at the end of the 2019 season to focus on his role as BC’s director of athletics, a position he has held since 2000.
