Jesse Matthew appeared via video link in Albemarle County Circuit Court on Wednesday on charges of first degree murder and abduction in the September 2014 disappearance and murder of second-year UVA student Hannah Graham.

An Afton woman wanted in Waynesboro on abduction and theft charges is now in custody. Officers and detectives with the Albemarle County Police Department located Whitney Renee Allman today at a residence near Scottsville. She was arrested without incident.

Jesse Matthew has been indicted for first-degree murder in the disappearance and death of second-year UVA student Hannah Graham. Albemarle County Commonwealth’s Attorney Denise Lunsford confirmed the indictment in a press conference in Charlottesville on Tuesday.

The Albemarle County Police Department and the Albemarle County Commonwealth’s Attorney will be hosting a press conference on Tuesday to provide an update into the Jesse Matthew case.

The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services was notified of a positive result for Equine Herpesvirus Myeloencephalopathy (EHM) on a horse displaying neurologic signs in western Albemarle County, northwest of Charlottesville, on Thursday.

Next Monday, Jan. 26, the Virginia Department of Transportation and Fairfield-Echols LLC of Fishersville will begin work to replace the Route 637 (Dick Woods Road) bridge over Ivy Creek in Albemarle County.

The City of Charlottesville, Department of Parks and Recreation and the Albemarle County Parks and Recreation Department have announced an open house to review design plans for the McIntire SkatePark on Thursday, January 22.

A series of mobile single-lane closures are scheduled for the week of Jan. 12-16 on Interstate 64 eastbound and westbound. These overnight closures are for fog-light replacement between mile marker 98 in Augusta County and mile marker 104 in Albemarle County.
