Chris Graham

WSLS-10 announces plans to host and broadcast the Commonwealth’s gubernatorial debate between Democrat Creigh Deeds and Republican Bob McDonnell.

The debate will be held Tuesday, Oct.20, from 7-8 p.m. at Olin Hall on the campus of Roanoke College in Salem. WSLS anchor Jay Warren will serve as moderator. Political analyst Dr. Bob Denton will serve as a panelist.

“WSLS 10 is thrilled to host another critically important debate and offer it to viewers across Virginia as they determine their voting preference for the November election.” said WSLS Vice President and General Manager Warren Fiihr.

“Jay’s expansive knowledge of politics in general and Virginia politics, in particular, makes him uniquely qualified to host the debate.” said WSLS News Director Melissa Preas, “He’ll help the candidates focus on the issues most important to Virginians.”

The WSLS 10 hosted debate will be the final debate between the two candidates for governor leading up to the election on Nov. 3. WSLS 10 will broadcast the debate in SW Virginia and stream the debate statewide on wsls.com.
