Virginia led most of the way, but a disastrous fourth quarter – six turnovers! – allowed #14 Duke to storm back to take a 60-55 win over the Cavaliers on Sunday at JPJ.

UVA (10-7, 2-3 ACC) led by nine at halftime after holding the Blue Devils (13-4, 4-1 ACC) to 9-of-34 (26.5%) shooting from the floor.

The lead briefly got into double-digits in the third quarter, before Duke took control with an 11-0 run in the fourth quarter, holding Virginia scoreless for 4:59, a stretch that saw the ‘Hoos miss six straight shots and commit four turnovers.

Kymora Johnson (14 points, five rebounds, six assists) broke the scoreless streak with a three with 2:02 to go, and a layup by Paris Clark at the 1:23 mark got the margin down to two, at 57-55.

After getting a defensive stop, UVA had a chance to tie or take the lead in the final minute, but Edessa Nolan (10 points, five rebounds, three assists) missed from three with 43 seconds left, and Duke got a three from Taina Mair with 14 seconds left – three on the shot clock – to put the game on ice.

Latasha Lattimore had 14 points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots for the ‘Hoos.
