Virginia’s 57-55 win over Arizona State in Thursday’s First Four ended at 11:17 p.m.
Postgame interviews, getting on the bus, maybe they got back to the hotel by 1 a.m.
And then, short turnaround, to a 1:30 p.m. start for Saturday’s game with #7 seed Georgia.
“We got some sleep last night. This morning we got in the cold tubs, actually a little kiddie pool cold tub, which was fun. Hydration tested today making sure we’re getting the right fluids. It’s not even kinda unfair that they played the late game on Thursday, and then play in the early afternoon on Saturday – like the NCAA is penalizing them for being a #10 seed?
Georgia is on regular rest, a regular Friday practice.
Even the Virginia coaching staff is running on fumes.

“We’ve been meeting basically since that game was over to prepare for Georgia,” head coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton said. “It was a late game, and it was a battle out there. So, they went back and ate something real quick and just went to bed.
“Today is all about recovery. It’s about getting the game plan in, it’s about getting some shots up, just making sure we’re confident going into Georgia,” Agugua-Hamilton said.
