Wild Virginia is proud to be hosting the Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival “On Tour.” Wild and Scenic On Tour brings together a selection of short films that tell a story about our planet, our beautiful and precious wildlands, and the people of the communities who love and defend them. They open our eyes and hearts to fantastic experiences in remarkable places. They beckon us towards action, highlight issues, and provide solutions.
The Festival will be held in Harrisonburg at the Court Square Theatre on September 26, 2013 (41-F Court Square). Screenings will be at 7:30 pm and tickets are $10 each. There will be 8 different films, with entirely different films from our previous shows in Staunton and Charlottesville.
The Harrisonburg show will feature One Plastic Beach, a film that tells the stories of people who are using creativity and innovation to help keep the world’s beaches “barefoot friendly.” Directed by renowned surf filmmaker Jason Baffa and produced by Farm League, the film profiles six passionate people who are working to help fix the global beach trash problem.
In addition to a variety of other short films listed below, Wild Virginia will be showing the Australian film, Generation Green which follows the journey of Patrick Hearps, a young chemical engineer working at an oil refinery, as he becomes increasingly concerned about his companies contribution towards adverse climate change. Torn between his career and a higher obligation of environmental stewardship Patrick’s courageous choices and eventual path forward highlight the actions needed to shape the world of tomorrow.
Attendees can win door prizes and a raffle. Admission is $10 each night and advance tickets are available at Friendly City CO-OP and Walkabout Outfitters in Harrisonburg or online at www.wildvirginia.org. Wild Virginia will be offering special $10 memberships at the door.
