Waynesboro Wanted 10 fugitive nabbed in Charlottesville

avis-ricky-thomas-srOne of the Waynesboro Police Department’s Waynesboro Wanted 10 fugitives was apprehended in Charlottesville over the weekend after nearly nine months on the run.

Officers with Charlottesville Police Department found Ricky Thomas Avis, Jr., 52 years old of no fixed address, at the Salvation Army in Charlottesville at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Saturday after an anonymous tipster gave information of Avis’ whereabouts.

Avis had been wanted on two felonies, Obtain Money by False Pretenses and Passing a Forged Check, since January 2016.  The charges stem from check passing incident in which the victim, a 58-year-old Waynesboro man, had $750 taken from his checking account by Avis and another suspect.

Avis is being held without bond.
