Officers with Charlottesville Police Department found Ricky Thomas Avis, Jr., 52 years old of no fixed address, at the Salvation Army in Charlottesville at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Saturday after an anonymous tipster gave information of Avis’ whereabouts.

Avis had been wanted on two felonies, Obtain Money by False Pretenses and Passing a Forged Check, since January 2016.  The charges stem from check passing incident in which the victim, a 58-year-old Waynesboro man, had $750 taken from his checking account by Avis and another suspect.
