Waynesboro Schools announces the appointment of Megan Fitzgerald as Assistant Principal of Waynesboro High School, effective July 1, 2025.

Fitzgerald’s appointment reflects the division’s unwavering commitment to cultivating excellence in education and
leadership. She brings a wealth of experience and a deep dedication to student success. Most recently, she
served as a Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher for Augusta County Schools, a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Specialist and AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Elective Teacher with Charlottesville City Schools, where she championed student voice, engagement and achievement.

Her educational career began at Kate Collins Middle School in Waynesboro, where she served as a Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher.

“As an educator committed to student success and leadership development, I am excited to grow as an administrator in a dynamic and supportive environment. My experiences as both a classroom teacher and a CTE Specialist have given me a strong foundation in instructional leadership, student advocacy, and collaborative problem-solving — skills I look forward to bringing to this new role. Throughout my career, I have focused on fostering inclusive, engaging, and high-achieving learning environments,” Fitzgerald said.

She holds a bachelor’s in Family and Consumer Sciences from Bridgewater College and will graduate May 15 with a master’s in Education and a concentration in Educational Leadership from James Madison University.

“We are thrilled to welcome Megan back to Waynesboro. Her steadfast commitment to student success and collaborative spirit make her an outstanding addition to our administrative team. Her leadership will complement the exceptional work of Principal Bryan Stamm and Assistant Principals Katrina Lassiter and Joshua Herndon at Waynesboro High School,” Dr. Jeffrey Cassell, Superintendent of Waynesboro Schools, said.

Waynesboro School Board looks forward to the contributions Fitzgerald will make in her new role and is confident that her leadership will further enrich the educational experience for students and strengthen
the division’s culture of excellence.
