wlogo2Covington scored six runs in the sixth and cruised from there to a 6-1 win over Waynesboro on Sunday night. The win pulls the Lumberjacks to within two and a half games of the Generals for the fourth and final playoff spot in the South Division.

Kyle Allen (sophomore, Butler) had looked strong through the first five innings, giving up just three hits while holding the ‘Jacks scoreless. But Covington broke through in a big way, knocking Allen out of the game en route to sending 12 men to the plate.

Waynesboro had taken a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth on an RBI single by Patrick Mazeika (freshman, Stetson) that scored Tyler Bocock (sophomore, Stetson) from second base.

Waynesboro travels to Rockbridge Monday night.
