VMI football fall camp practice starts Monday

vmi-footballVMI football will commence 2016 preseason practice with the first workout scheduled for Monday, August 8, at 2:00 p.m.

Second-year head coach Scott Wachenheim welcomes back ninety-five players who will participate in 25 practices throughout the month before the Keydets settle into their regular game week practice schedule on the first day of classes on Tuesday, August 30th. VMI opens the season at Akron Saturday, September 3 at 6:30 p.m. and the game will be carried on ESPN3.

VMI will conduct a full scrimmage on Wednesday, August 17 at 8:30 a.m. at Foster Stadium.

The Keydets return 44 letterwinners and 15 starters from last year’s squad including All-Southern Conference preseason quarterback Al Cobb (R-Jr., Pulaski, Tennessee) who led the league in passing yards per game last season (273.6).

All but three practices will be held at Fiorini Field, the team’s turf practice facility adjacent to Foster Stadium.Ā Three Ā practices on the Foster Stadium game fieldĀ are slated for August 17, 20, and 27.
