312_stopthepresses.jpgWant to know what life’s like on the campaign trail?

We made 10 gallons of fruit salsa Monday night. Dished it out Tuesday night.

Still have a gallon in the fridge.

You know how much a gallon of fruit salsa really is?

Half the fridge is fruit salsa.

We barely had it in the fridge before the phone rang with questions about an e-mail regarding a candidates forum.

Spent half the day Wednesday and Thursday blogging on the News Leader website about said e-mail.

One person kept saying I didn’t live in my house.

That one was interesting.

Don’t know what that had to do with an e-mail regarding a candidates forum.

One person called me a crony, at least I had thought, and then took it back, which I thought was nice.

Did I say I spent half the day Wednesday and Thursday on this?

And writing a letter to the editor about the whole thing.

You know, feeling that my character had been impugned.

I mean, you’d think I was Eliot Spitzer, the way things were being said about us.

Buck up, young man, it’s politics.

I’m telling myself that.

Folks around me are hopping mad about it all.

It’s part of the job, I tell them.

It’s two months ’til the election. It’s going to get worse before it gets better.

I’m talking there about the fruit salsa. That stuff’s going to still be here on May 6th.

The campaign – it’s going to be OK.

Perfectly OK.
