At least the floats will be on display, thanks to Waynesboro Downtown Development Inc., which is organizing an exhibit of floats that were to have been in the canceled Dec. 5 Waynesboro Christmas Parade.

The exhibit will be part of the two-day Christmas in the River City event scheduled for Friday, Dec. 18, and Saturday, Dec. 19. The display will be set up in the parking lot at Constitution Park the night of Friday, Dec. 18, WDDI events coordinator Rick Moyer said.

“Like everybody else, we’ve heard, we’ve read, we’ve seen that a lot of people were very upset about the whole thing. So it came down to, How can we work something out to get the community out and thinking that their efforts weren’t in vain? This is the solution we’ve come up with,” Moyer said.

WDDI staff is contacting people who had registered to have floats in the parade.

You can get in touch with WDDI at 540.942.6705 for more information.
