Stuff the Bus effort reports success

AFP

The 2010 Stuff the Bus weekend sponsored by the United Way of Greater Augusta was a solid success – collecting 2,250 boxes of crayons, 22,240 pencils, 2,978 spiral notebooks, 5,800 pens, 1,360 bottles of glue, 11,330 glue sticks, 200 backpacks and 1,191 packs of notebook paper, as well as hundreds of other items.

The total collection yielded over 17,000 items with a value of over $11,000, more than doubling last year’s collection of $5,000.

The event was done with the assistance of the United Way, Wal-Mart, UPS and Clear Channel Radio.
