Stephen Strasburg leaves game with injury

Chris Graham

stephen strasburgWashington Nationals ace Stephen Strasburg left his first start back from the disabled list with an apparent serious injury Wednesday night.

Strasburg (15-4, 3.60 ERA, 1.10 WHIP) had cruised through his first two innings, but grimaced in pain on three straight pitches in the third before leaving.

The Nats haven’t commented on the extent of the injury, with the game ongoing with the Atlanta Braves as of 11 p.m.

Strasburg had gone on to the DL last month after experiencing tightness in his right forearm. After a 15-1 start, he had given up 19 earned runs in his last three starts, including nine in an inning and a third in an Aug. 17 loss to Colorado, his last start before Wednesday night.
