Special opening at the Staunton Augusta Art Center on Saturday

saaclogoArt: the Path to Recovery is a collaborative exhibit of juried, current works by consumers of area mental health services.  The collaborating agencies and organizations include the Staunton Augusta Art Center, Western State Hospital, National Alliance for Mental Illness, Mental Health America of Augusta, and several area Community Services Boards.

We extend special thanks to Carol Sease, Occupational Therapist at Western State Hospital, for serving as the guest curator for this special exhibition of under-recognized artists.  Thanks to the Western State Hospital Department of Volunteer Services, the Opening Reception will occur this Saturday, May 11 from 3-4pm in the second floor lecture hall/gallery of the R. R. Smith Center for History and Art.  The exhibition will then run May 15-June 1, 10am-5pm Monday throughFriday, and 10am-4pm Saturday.  There is no charge to attend the reception or to view the exhibit and everyone is welcome.

Call the Art Center (540-885-2028) if you have questions.
