nelson countyRoute 635 (Greenfield Road) over a branch of Perry Creek in Nelson County will be closed beginning Sept. 12, while a VDOT crew replaces pipe. Weather permitting, the road is expected to reopen to traffic Oct. 14.

The road will be closed from the intersection of Route 633 (Taylor Creek Road) to the intersection with Route 634 (Spring Valley Road). Traffic will detour around the closure using Route 635 (Craigs Store Road) in Albemarle County, to Route 692 (Plank Road), to Route 29 South (Monacan Trail), back into Nelson County, to Route 6 (River Road), Route 151 (Rockfish Valley Highway) and, again, back to Route 635 (Greenfield Road).

This structure carries approximately 540 vehicles per day, according to a 2015 traffic count. Signs and other traffic control devices will be in place to notify the public of the closure and detour route.
