augusta k9Retired Augusta County Sheriff’s Office K9 Renegade “Ren” Bryant passed away at her home in Fishersville this past Sunday.

“Ren worked tirelessly for the community of Augusta County, the Sheriff’s Office, and the courts.  All of us at the Sheriff’s Office learned to respect her judgement and trusted her over the years,” Sheriff Donald Smith said.

Ren was involved in approximately 500 cases from 2008 through 2012.  The Sheriff’s Office retired her for medical reasons in February 2012.

Since retirement she had enjoyed life with her handler, former deputy Jesse Bryant.

“On behalf of the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office I would like to express our condolences to the Bryant family,” Smith said.
