Poets Brian Teare and Gillian Conoley at New Dominion Bookshop

New Dominion BookshopNew Dominion Bookshop will host a book reading and signing with poets Brian Teare and Gillian Conoley on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 7:00 to 8:00 PM.

Teare is an associate professor of creative writing at the University of Virginia, and Conoley is a poet in residence and professor at Sonoma State University. This event will be free and open to the public.

Brian Teare is the author of six critically acclaimed books, most recently Companion Grasses (a finalist for the Kingsley Tufts Award), The Empty Form Goes All the Way to Heaven, and Doomstead Days, out from Nightboat Books. His honors include the Brittingham Prize and Lambda Literary and Publishing Triangle Awards, as well as fellowships from the NEA, the Pew Foundation, the American Antiquarian Society, the Headlands Center for the Arts, and the MacDowell Colony. An associate professor at the University of Virginia, he lives in Charlottesville, where he makes books by hand for his micropress, Albion Books. For more details, visit brianteare.net.

Gillian Conoley received the 2017 Shelley Memorial Award for lifetime achievement from the Poetry Society of America. She was also awarded the Jerome J. Shestack Poetry Prize, a National Endowment for the Arts grant, and a Fund for Poetry Award. Her most recent collection, A Little More Red Sun on the Human: New and Selected Poems, is just out with Nightboat Books. She is the author of seven previous books, including PEACE, an Academy of American Poets Standout Book and a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. Conoley’s translations of Henri Michaux, Thousand Times Broken, appeared in 2014 with City Lights.
