brite busThe Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission, in cooperation with Virginia Regional Transit, announced revisions and schedule improvements impacting several routes in the BRITE Bus public transit system.

The Blue Ridge Community College North and South Shuttles, the Waynesboro Circulator route, and the 340 Connector route will implement these improvements to increase reliability, add more stops at key destinations, and allow for easier connections between routes.

The changes were first recommended in the CSPDC’s Transit Development Plan, and are being incorporated after public feedback has indicated positive response.

The following changes will go into effect on August 22.

  1. The BRCC North and South Shuttles will eliminate the evening break in service.  BRCC North will operate every hour, Monday through Thursday from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM, and on Fridays from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.  The BRCC South will operate every hour, Monday through Thursday from 7:30 AM to 10:30 PM, and on Fridays from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM.  This will provide better access to the BRCC campus, and destinations on the Route 11 and Route 42 corridors, including Harrisonburg.
  2. The Waynesboro Circulator route is being revamped to improve reliability and on-time performance. A new stop has been added at the Walmart Neighborhood Market, and several under-utilized stops have been removed from the route.  Popular stops will continue to be served including Waynesboro Town Center, Walmart, the Community Center, Social Services, the Library, and other destinations.  The Waynesboro Circulator will continue to operate Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM, and will allow connections to the Route 250 Connector and the Stuarts Draft Link at the Waynesboro HUB located at Walmart.
  3. The 340 Connector route has been replaced with a revised route called the Stuarts Draft Link, to better serve the residents of Stuarts Draft adding additional stops at retail and medical destinations within Stuarts Draft, and providing service, without transfer, to Augusta Health.  This new route will operateMonday through Friday from 6:50 AM to 4:43 PM, with a two-hour midday break from 10:43 AM to 12:50 PM, and will provide connections to the Waynesboro Circulator and the 250 Connector at the Waynesboro HUB located at Walmart.
