Men’s lacrosse: No. 4 UVA, No. 6 Maryland renew rivalry on Saturday in NCAA Quarterfinals

UVA men’s lacrosseUVA (14-3) and Maryland (12-4) rekindle their rivalry on Saturday in the quarterfinal round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament at Hofstra’s James M. Shuart Stadium in Hempstead, N.Y.

The former ACC foes are facing each other for the first time since 2014. Faceoff is set for noon. UVA is ranked No. 4 in the USILA coaches poll and No. 3 in the Inside Lacrosse/Maverick media poll. Maryland is ranked No. 6 in the coaches poll and No. 11 in the media poll.

UVA, champions of the Atlantic Coast Conference, is the No. 3 national seed and earned an at-large bid. The Cavaliers advanced with a 19-10 win over Robert Morris in the first round. Maryland also earned an at-large bid and is the only unseeded team to reach the quarterfinal round, topping No. 6 seed Towson in overtime, 14-13.

Live stats will be available at VirginiaSports.com. The game will be televised live on ESPNU. Anish Shroff will call the play-by-play, while Quint Kessenich and Paul Carcaterra will provide analysis. ESPN will also simulcast the broadcast on the WatchESPN app, or by logging onto ESPN3.com.There will be a live radio broadcast in the Charlottesville area on WINA 1070 AM and 98.9 FM. Luke Neer will provide the play-by-play and Doug Tarring will add analysis. The radio broadcast can also be heard on SiriusXM ACC Radio channel 371.
