Lynchburg VDOT District Traffic Alert: Sept. 8-12

Amherst County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

US 29 Bypass over James River and CSX Rail – Crews will prepare for and apply epoxy overlay on bridges beginning with the northbound structure and moving to the southbound . Motorists should be alert to lane closures during day and night hours. The work will last approximately 3 weeks.

Various – Crews will respond to customer concerns and mill and pave. Signs and other traffic control devices will be in use. Minor delays expected through 12/5/14.

 

Appomattox County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Route 675 over Big Cub Creek – Road closed 9/8/14 – 12/12/14 for bridge replacement. Detour: Rt. 700 west to Rt. 635 northwest to Rt. 720 southwest to Rt. 644 southwest and back to Rt. 675.

Various – Crews will respond to customer concerns and mill and pave. Signs and other traffic control devices will be in use. Minor delays expected through 12/5/14.

 

Buckingham County: Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Route 60, Sprouse’s Corner to Cumberland Co. line – Milling/paving. Traffic control devices in use.

Route 671 over Hunts Creek – Road closed 7/7 –9/19/14 for bridge replacement. Detour available.

Andersonville area – Crews will conduct ditch and shoulder maintenance and boom axe.

Dillwyn area – Crews will cut behind guardrails.

Various – Crews will make surface repairs, mow and respond to customer concerns.

 

Campbell County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Route 651  (615-604) – Crews will perform drilling operations on bridge. Operations will take place bet. 8:30 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. on September 10, 11 & 12.  Flaggers will assist motorists. Signs and other traffic control devices will alert motorists to the change in traffic pattern.

Route 663  (615-651) – Crews will perform drilling operations on bridge. Operations will take place bet. 8:30 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. on September 8& 9.. Flaggers will assist motorists. Signs and other traffic devices will alert motorists to the change in traffic pattern.

Various – Crews will respond to customer concerns and mill and pave. Signs and other traffic control devices will be in use. Minor delays expected through 12/5/14.

 

Charlotte County:  Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Route 47 and other routes  – Crews will work surfaces.

Route 661  (47-671) – Crews will perform drilling operations on bridge. Operations will take place bet. 8:30 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. on September 15, 16 and 17. Flaggers will assist motorists. Signs and other traffic control devices will alert motorists to the change in traffic pattern.

Craftons Gate – Crews will do ditch work.

Various – Crews will boom axe and respond to customer concerns.

Various secondary routes–Milling and paving until 12/5/14. Signs and other traffic control devices in use.

 

Cumberland County: Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Various – Crews will work surface/shoulders, clean pipe/ditches, cut brush, mow and respond to customers.

 

Halifax County: Kenneth Martin, Residency Administrator

Route 642 –  Grading, temporary seeding and work on asphalt will take place.

Volens – Crews will perform ditch work.

Various – Crews will mow, make surface repairs and respond to customer concerns.

 

Nelson County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Route 623 over Rockfish River– Closed for bridge replacement at intersection of 617/623. A signed detour in place. Estimated completion – 9/ 30/14.

Route 739 over Tye River- Bridge painting: Lane closures on Route 29 and Route 739. Signs and other traffic control devices will be in use.

Various – Crews will respond to customer concerns and mill and pave. Signs and other traffic control devices will be in use. Minor delays expected through 12/5/14.

 

Pittsylvania County: Kenneth Martin, Residency Administrator

Kentuck – Crews will trim trees on secondary routes.

Route 676 (674-689)  – Road closed 8/11/14 – 11/18/15, for replacement of Whitethorn Creek bridge. Detour : Routes 903, 687, 649, 886 and 689. Signs and other traffic control devices in use.

Route 685 (686-690) – Road closed for bridge replacement. Est. comp. 9/12/14. Detour: 686, 683 to 649.

Route 924– Road closed 6/30-9/19/14 for structure replacement; detour via Routes 665 & 638.

Various – Crews will mow, boom axe, clean roadsides, work pipe, ditches, shoulders and surfaces and respond to customer concerns.

 

Prince Edward County: Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Route 623 –Bridge replacement over NS and Buckingham Branch Railroads. Est. comp. 6/30/15.

Route 633 (15 – 360) –Bridge replacement project. Estimated completion – 10/14.

Route  658 and other locations– Crews will make shoulder repairs.

Various – Crews will pick up trash, cut brush, mow, make surface repairs, conduct surface treatment operations and respond to customers.

 

District-wide activities:

Bridge and guardrail maintenance – Crews will perform bridge/guardrail maintenance, including bridge washing. Signs, flaggers and other safety devices will be used to alert motorists to these operations.

Latex schedules –Motorists should be alert to latex paving and, subsequent, line marking.
