Lynchburg District Traffic Alert: Week of Nov. 7-11

road work transportationHighway work in the Lynchburg District requiring road/lane/structure closures is scheduled, weather permitting.  Traffic may be restricted.  Items in italics contain new/updated information. For     up-to-date information, call 511 or visit www.511Virginia.org.  

 

Amherst County:  

Route 130 over Pedlar River– Bridge work; road closed. Detour to new-construction & existing Rt. 635.  Message boards, signs and barriers in use. Est. comp. 11/27/17.

Route 501/130 (Snowden, Hunting Club Rd-existing James River Bridge) –Two-way traffic will begin to use bridge. Construction will continue.  Completion 4/21/17.   

 

Appomattox County:  

None

 

Buckingham County:    

Route 20 over Slate River – Speed reduced during bridge replacement. Est.  comp. – 12/2017.

Dillwyn AHQ – Crews will cut brush on secondary routes.

Various – Crews will mow, work surfaces and respond to customer concerns.

 

Campbell County:  

Route 29 North over Otter River – One lane of bridge closed at a time for repairs.  Est. comp. 12/31, weather permitting.

Route 460 East @ Rt656  – Lane closures in place for turn lane construction. Est. comp. 11/29.

Route 692 over stream (693-709) – Road closed 10/11-11/11 for pipe replacement. Detour via 693 to 696 to 709 and back to 692.

 

Charlotte County:   

Route 40 over Louse Creek – Be alert to equipment entering/exiting road during bridge project.

Craftons Gate AHQ – Crews will boom ax and install mainline and driveway pipe.

Phenix AHQ – Crews will make shoulder repairs, and trim trees.

Various – Crews will work surfaces, mow and respond to customer requests.

 

Cumberland County:  

Route 605 – Crews will lay base stone.

Various – Crews will mow, work surfaces and respond to customer requests.

 

Halifax County:  

Route 501 @ Rt. 40 and 632 – Construction of right turn lanes. Est. comp. May 2017.

Route 613 (VA 360 – US 360)- Closed until 12/9 for bridge work.

Route 667 over Brush Creek (657-649) – Closed 6 weeks beginning 11/28 for pipe replacement. Detour via 649, 603, 650 to 657.

Route 716 over Banister River –Closed until 11/28 to construct bridge & approaches. Detour in place.

Bethel AHQ- Crews will trim limbs around signs.

Bethel and Cluster Springs AHQ – Crews will mow at various locations.

Volens AHQ – Crews will work shoulders.

Various –Crews will work surfaces and respond to customer requests.

 

Lynchburg:

Greenview Drive widening– Changes in traffic pattern during intersection improvement project. Completion July 2017.

Route 29/460 Corridor eastbound/westbound from Concord Turnpike to Candlers Mtn Rd:  Speed reduced to 45 mph for construction throughout the corridor.

Route 29/460 (501-29)– Construction traffic entering/exiting roadway. Weather permitting, lane closures may be in place from 9 pm, Friday to 6 am, Sunday, excluding holiday weekends until further notice. Use caution. Est. comp. 11/16/17

Route 29/460 (Odd Fellows Rd Int. and Odd Fellows Rd.)– Construction traffic entering/exiting roadway. Temp. lane closures on 460 & Odd Fellows likely. Odd Fellows & Mayflower may be closed during roundabout construction. Use caution. Est. comp. 8/3/18

Route 460, area of LU campus – LU/English Const. bridge project. Temporary barriers to be set.

 

Nelson County:  

Route 60 (657-622) – Crews will mill and pave roadway.

Route 632 over Cove Creek and Route 654 over Rucker’s Run – Bridge inspections on 11/27 may result in delays. Rain date 11/28.

Route 672 (673-724) – Road closed due to flooding damage.  Est. reopening – late Nov.  

 

Pittsylvania County:  

Route 29 S over Norfolk-Southern RR –Bridge replacement. Rt. 29/803 connection temp. relocated. Southbound traffic detoured to northbound lane. Est. comp. 6/20/17.

Routes 29 Business (NCL of Danville – Rt. 726) and 41 (corporate limits of Danville – Rt. 864) – Overnight milling and daytime paving.. Signs and other traffic control devices will alert motorists.

Route 602 over Little Straightstone Creek (668-628) – Closed 11/14-18, weather permitting for deck replacement. Use routes 668 and 628 back to 602. 

Route 859 (311 – 622) – Road closed approximately 4 weeks beginning 10/24 for pipe replacement. Detour via NC 311, NC 1741, VA 856 and VA 622 back to VA 859.

Brosville and Rondo AHQs – Crews will work ditches at various locations.

Gretna, Kentuck and Mt. Airy AHQs – Crews will boom axe.

Gretna, Kentuck, Mt. Airy and Rondo AHQ – Crews will work surfaces.

Mt. Airy AHQ – Crews will repair pipe.

Rondo AHQ – Crews will clean pipe.

Various –Crews will mow and respond to customers.

 

Prince Edward County:  

Various – Crews will work surfaces, cut brush, mow, clean roadsides and respond to customer requests.

 

District-wide activities: 

Guardrail maintenance – Crews will do guardrail maintenance. 

Pavement markings –Pavement markings will be eradicated/restored at various locations. Caution is urged.
