Lynchburg District Traffic Alert: Sept. 19-23

Amherst County:  

Route 29 Business, Madison Hgts – Crews will work on signals.

Route 130 over Pedlar River– Bridge work; road closed. Detour to new-construction & existing Rt. 635.  Message boards, signs and barriers in use. Est. comp. 11/27/17.

Route 151- Crews will work on signs.

Route 501/130 (Snowden, Hunting Club Rd-existing James River Bridge) –Route 130 bet. Route 501/130 intersection east to Bedford Power Plant restricted to one lane using traffic control devices, signs and signal for roadway construction and bridge approaches. Completion4/21/17.   

Various routes – Surface work. Expect delays.

 

Appomattox County:  

No items to report

 

Buckingham County:    

Route 20 over Slate River – Speed reduced during bridge replacement. Est.  comp. – 12/2017.

Routes 622 & 671 over Slate River – Delay for inspections 10/24. Rain date 10/25.

Dillwyn AHQ – Crews will mow on secondary routes.

Various – Crews will work surfaces and respond to customer concerns.

 

Campbell County:  

Route 29 – Crews will paint markings.

Route 460 East to Route 656 – Lane closures for construction of turn lane. Est.comp.11/29/16.

Route 677 over Opossum Creek –Superstructure replacement Sept. 12-Dec. 13; detour in use.

Route 692 over stream (693-709) – Road closed 10/11-11/11 for pipe replacement. Detour via 693 to 696 to 709 and back to 692.

 

Charlotte County:   

Route 40 over Louse Creek – Be alert to equipment entering/exiting road during bridge project.

Route 40 (Phenix AHQ) – Slope repair will take place.

Craftons Gate AHQ – Crews will boom ax and install mainline and driveway pipe.

Phenix AHQ – Crews will make shoulder repairs, and trim trees.

Various – Crews will work surfaces, mow and respond to customer requests.

 

Cumberland County:  

Various – Crews will work surfaces, mow and respond to customer requests.

 

Halifax County:  

Route 501 @ Rt. 40 and 632 – Construction of right turn lanes. Est. comp. May 2017.

Route 613 over Branch of Banister River (360-360)– Closed for approximately 14 weeks beginning July 11 for structure replacement. Detour will use Route 360.

Route 716 over Banister River – Road closed to construct bridge & approaches. Detour in place.

Cluster Springs AHQ – Crews will boom ax on primary routes.

Paces – Plant mix work will take place.

Volens AHQ – Crews will mow on secondary routes.

Various –Crews will make surface repairs and respond to customer requests.

 

Lynchburg:

Greenview Drive widening– Utility relocation may result in temporary delays. Traffic will be maintained along Greenview Dr & Airport Rd during construction. Short closures of each leg of Leesville Rd with temp. detours will take place.

Route 29/460 Corridor eastbound/westbound from Concord Turnpike to Candlers Mtn Rd:  Speed reduced to 45 mph for construction throughout the corridor.

Route 29/460 (501-29)– Construction traffic entering/exiting roadway. Weather permitting, lane closures will be in place from 9 pm, Friday to 6 am, Sunday, excluding holiday weekends until further notice. Use caution. Est. comp. 11/16/17

Route 29/460 (Odd Fellows Rd Int. and Odd Fellows Rd.)– Be alert to construction traffic entering/exiting roadway. Temp. lane closures on 460 & Odd Fellows likely. Odd Fellows & Mayflower may be closed during roundabout construction. Use caution. Est. comp. 8/3/18

Route 460, area of LU campus – LU/English Const. bridge project. Temporary barriers to be set.

 

Nelson County:  

Route 632 over Cove Creek – Bridge inspection on 11/9 may result in delays. Rain date 11/28.

Route 635 over Branch Perry Creek (633-634) –Road closed 9/12-10/14 for pipe replacement. Detour using 635, 692, 29, 6, 151 and back to 635.

Route 654 over Rucker’s Run – Bridge inspection 11/9 may result in delays. Rain date 11/28.

Route 672 (673-724) – Road closed due to flooding damage.  Est. reopening – late Nov.  

Various routes – Surface work. Expect delays.

 

Pittsylvania County:  

Route 29 – Crews will paint markings.

Route 29 (Gretna AHQ) and various locations (Kentuck AHQ) – Crews will work shoulders.

Route 29 S over Norfolk-Southern RR –Bridge replacement. Rt. 29/803 connection temp. relocated. Southbound traffic detoured to northbound lane. Est. comp. 6/20/17.

Route 58-  Crews will work on signs.

Route 685 (40-670)- Lanes closed for bridge work. Estimated completion Sept. 23, 2016.

Route 792 (Rt 671 – 665) over W.F. Stinking Creek – Closed 9/15-9/21 for culvert replacement. Detour via 671.

Route 834 (Rt 703-837) over Pudding Creek – Closed 8/8-9/30 for superstructure replacement. Detour via 703, 838 and 718. Also, crews will cut and remove rock in curve.

Route 931 (US 29 – 654) – Road closed 2 days starting Sept. 27 for railroad maintenance. Detour in place.

Route 968 (Rt. 726 – 970) over Sandy Creek – Closed 5/23-9/30 for structure replacement. Detour via 726, 58 and 970, back to 968.

Brosville, Kentuck and Rondo AHQs – Crews will ditch at various locations.

Gretna and Rondo AHQs – Crews will clean roadsides.

Kentuck and Mt. Airy AHQs – Crews will boom ax.

Mt. Airy AHQ – Crews will repair pipe.

Various –Crews will work surfaces, mow and respond to customers.

 

Prince Edward County:  

Route 619 over Saylers Creek – Crews will construct bridge and approaches. Comp.  11/2016. Road closed; detour in place.

Route 628 – Crews will work Rural Rustic project.

Various – Crews will work surfaces, cut brush, mow and respond to customer requests.

 

District-wide activities: 

Guardrail maintenance – Crews will do guardrail maintenance. 

Pavement markings –Pavement markings will be eradicated/restored at various locations Caution is urged.
