We’ll be in and out all day Saturday with updates on the ACC Championship Game race, ahead of tonight’s Virginia-Virginia Tech game, in which the ‘Hoos hold all the cards.

Win, and UVA (9-2, 6-1 ACC) is in, no matter what else happens.

Virginia Tech (3-8, 2-5 ACC) is either in the role of spoiler, or enhancement talent.

The UVA-Tech game kicks off in the 7 p.m. ET quarter-hour on ESPN.

Championship Week

Update: 4:11 p.m. Miami beat Pitt, 38-7, to eliminate the Panthers from the title chase, and the win keeps Miami alive for both Charlotte, but perhaps more importantly, for an at-large CFP spot.

Update: 7:17 p.m. Tipped pass at the line on a third-and-4 intercepted by Maddox Marcellus at the UVA 46.

The tip dude: Fisher Camac.

Tech had picked up two first downs. The Hokies drive started at their own 6 after Cameron Seldon inexplicably decided to return a kickoff that had gone nine yards deep into the end zone.

Update: 7:24 p.m. Virginia turns the INT into points. Big pickup on a third-and-6 at the Tech 42, a 26-yard pass to Trell Harris.

A holding call on a double-move got UVA to first-and-goal.

J’Mari Taylor scored on a wildcat play, 1-yard scoring run.

UVA 7, Virginia Tech 0, 7:26/1st

Update: 7:43 p.m. We’re at the end of one, and it’s UVA 7, Tech 0.

Virginia will punt after the break.

A couple of odd play-call decisions after the first-down run by J’Mari Taylor: a pair of bubble screens to Trell Harris that the Tech secondary was totally onto.

Des Kitchings saw something that wasn’t there.

Update: 7:46 p.m. First-quarter analysis: the Hokies had the ball for 10:01. They’re basically playing Tony Bennett Basketball on us, limiting the number of possessions to keep the game closer.

Update: 8:12 p.m. J’Mari Taylor 1-yard TD pass to Sage Ennis. They saved that play for this game. Taylor out of the wildcat, as is the norm. Then, the jump pass.

Nice.

UVA 14, Virginia Tech 0, 4:33/2nd

Update: 8:34 p.m. We’re at the half, with Virginia up, 14-0.

Tight first half statwise: Virginia outgained Tech 146-110.

Tech has been able to shorten the game a bit with some success running the ball: 99 sack-adjusted yards on 20 runs.

The Virginia offensive game plan is obviously oriented toward limiting exposure.

One more score, and this one is over.

Virginia gets the ball to start the second half.

Update: 9:15 p.m. Will Bettridge good from 32 yards to cap an 11-play, 39-yard drive.

Tonight’s attendance: 58,832.

UVA 17, Virginia Tech 0, 7:28/3rd

Update: 9:33 p.m. Chandler Morris 8-yard TD run, after which two Tech defenders need to readjust their jocks.

Drive: 12 plays, 74 yards, 5:02.

UVA 24, Virginia Tech 0, 0:46/3rd

Update: 9:54 p.m. Virginia left the door slightly ajar there.

Fourth-and-1 at the Tech 11. Weird play call there: Harrison Waylee got the direct snap, and it was a read-option.

The read-option slowed him down to allow pursuit.

Update: 10:02 p.m. Antonio Clary intercepted a Kyron Drones pass in plus territory, and it led to a Will Bettridge 32-yard field goal.

I may finally be able to start relaxing. A smidge.

UVA 27, Virginia Tech 0, 6:24/4th

Update: 10:09 p.m. Tech gets on the board with a fourth-and-2 pass from Drones to Shamarius Peterkin.

Missed tackle there. Not many of those tonight.

UVA 27, Virginia Tech 7, 4:21/4th

Update: 10:42 p.m. It’s over.

I’m hanging out in the press box. Let it soak in.

Postgame recap to come.

Wahoowa!
