JMU improved its overall record to 15-7 and its CAA mark to 9-1.  The Dukes, who won for the 12th time in their last 13 games, held on to second place in the league standings.  JMU hosts #20/23-ranked and defending CAA champion Delaware, which is in first place with a perfect 10-0 record, on Sunday (Feb. 10).

UNCW dropped its eighth straight and fell to 2-19 overall and 1-9 in league play.

JMU senior guard Tarik Hislop (Silver Spring, Md./Paint Branch) scored a game-high 19 points and in doing so moved from sixth to fifth on the Dukes’ career scoring list with 1,615 points.  She’s only two points away from sole possession of fourth place.

Freshman guard Precious Hall (Tallahassee, Fla./Maclay) scored 15 points and handed out a game-high four assists, and junior guard Kirby Burkholder (Bridgewater, Va./Turner Ashby) added 10 points.

Dukes redshirt freshman guard Jazmon Gwathmey (Bealeton, Va./Liberty) led all players with nine rebounds, one below her career high.  Freshman forward Destiny Jones (Miramar, Fla./Archbishop McCarthy) finished with eight points and six rebounds.

UNCW was led in scoring by freshman guard Dana Brown (Willow Springs, N.C./Enloe) with nine.  Senior forward Karneshia Garrett (Hoover, Ala./Hoover) scored eight points and had a team-high six rebounds.

UNCW led for the first six minutes and was up 10-6 with 13:53 left in the opening half.  Redshirt junior guard Jessica Freeman (Charlotte, N.C./West Charlotte) hit two 3-pointers to help the Seahawks get out to the early advantage.

But the Dukes ran off 13 straight points, with five players contributing, to take a 17-10 lead with 11:17 on the clock.  JMU pushed its lead to 14 points, 33-19, at halftime, and the Seahawks got no closer the rest of the way.
