AFP

newspaper30 Quilts for 30 Years, a colorful artistic quilt exhibit by Caryl Bryer Fallert-Gentry, will grace the Virginia Quilt Museum on Main Street Harrisonburg.

Fallert-Gentry is internationally recognized for her award winning fine art quilts, which have appeared in hundreds of national and international exhibitions, collection and publications. Fallert-Gentry has lectured and taught in eleven countries around the world and continues to share her knowledge through her publication and website.

The artist will lecture in Harrisonburg Saturday, October 31. She will reveal her talent and love of color, line, and texture and how it engages the spirit and emotions of the viewer, evoking a sense of mystery, excitement, or joy.  Illusions of movement, depth, and luminosity are common to most of her work and the inner glow is created by hand dyeing or painting fabrics in gradual progressions from light to dark. Caryl wants her  quilts to be seen and enjoyed by others hoping  that they will lift the spirits and delight the eyes of those who see them.  You can see this exhibit beginning October 14 running through December 19.

Tickets for the lecture program are $25 for museum members, $30 for non-members. The program will be held at St Stephen’s Church 358 S. Main Street in Harrisonburg  at 1:15 pm., followed by a reception to meet and greet Caryl held at the museum.

Tickets are available by calling the museum at 540-433-3818 or emailing [email protected] . Open Tues.-Sat., from10 am to 4 pm the museum is located at 301 S. Main St., Harrisonburg, Va. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the museum exists to celebrate quilting in Virginia as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, funded solely through private donations, memberships, and revenue from admissions and museum shop sales. The Virginia Quilt Museum receives no federal or state funding.
