Henrico man arrested, charged in Dec. 14 shooting of Richmond man

A Henrico man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of a Richmond man in December.

Walter Coleman, 58, of Henrico, has been charged with murder and use of a firearm in relation to the Dec. 14 death of Wesley Jefferson, 37, of Richmond.

Coleman turned himself in to local authorities on Jan. 22.

According to Richmond Police, officers were called to the 3600 block of Richmond Highway at 1:21 p.m. on Dec. 14 for the report of a robbery that was upgraded to a shooting.

Officers arrived and located Jefferson down on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
