Greenbrier Classic officials announced that PGA TOUR veteran and 12-time winner Steve Stricker joins major championship winners Davis Love III and John Daly to compete in the sixth edition of the award-winning Greenbrier Classic at The Old White TPC Course, June 29-July 5.
Stricker, 48, has been one of the most consistent players on TOUR within the past six-plus years. Over that period he has only missed two cuts, one in 2012 at THE PLAYERS Championship and the other this year at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. The Wisconsin native is currently ranked No. 96 in the world and No. 168 in FedExCup points in only five events played this season as he recovers from back surgery in December. Since turning professional in 1990, Stricker has won 12 PGA TOUR titles and earned $40,853,744, seventh all-time on the TOUR’s career money list. He will make his third Greenbrier Classic start at this year’s tournament. His best finish, T-22, at The Classic came in his first start in 2012. He posted a T-35 effort last year for a career tournament scoring average of 68.5 and earnings of $87,257.50.
Love is the owner of 20 PGA TOUR victories, including the 1997 PGA Championship, and $43,050,790 in earnings over his nearly 30-year professional career. The Sea Island, Georgia resident is currently ranked No. 6 in career PGA TOUR earnings. Love has been a member of seven U.S. Ryder Cup teams, six as a player (1993, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2002 and 2004) and one as a captain in 2012. He has also joined the U.S. squad for the Presidents Cup on seven occasions, six as a player (1994, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2003 and 2005) and in 2013 as an assistant Captain to Fred Couples. Love will be making his sixth appearance at the 2015 Greenbrier Classic. After a T-35 finish last year, his tournament scoring average is 68.5, with earnings of $267,960 and a T-9 performance in 2013 his best finish.
Two-time major championship winner, Daly, is one of the most recognizable figures in golf. He has recorded five-career PGA TOUR titles and his major victories include the 1991 PGA Championship and 1995 The Open Championship. The 49-year-old resident of Dardanelle, Arkansas has totaled $10,245,251 in earnings during his more than 25 years as a professional. This year will mark his sixth start at The Greenbrier Classic.
