Forbes: Shentel named one of top 100 trustworthy companies

AFP

shentelShentel has been named to Forbes 2016 list of 100 Most Trustworthy Companies in America. Shentel was also named to this list in 2013 and 2014. The honor recognizes companies that consistently demonstrate trustworthy accounting and governance practices over the previous year.

With the recent acquisition of nTelos Wireless, Shentel is now the sixth largest wireless provider in the country and was placed in the mid-market cap category for the first year, previously being honored in the small-cap category.

“We are proud to be recognized in Forbes’ list of Most Trustworthy Companies for the third time,” said President Chris French. “We are committed to operating as a responsible company with sound corporate governance, and this recognition strongly supports our priority of transparency and integrity with not only our customers, but our employees and shareholders alike.”

To make up this list, MSCI ESG Research, provider of research-driven insights for institutional investors for more than 40 years, took a comprehensive measure of accounting and governance practices of over 2,500 publicly traded, non-financial American companies with market caps of $250 million or more.

Factors considered include high-risk behaviors such as regulatory actions, amended filings, and revenue and expense recognition methods. Companies are scored on a 1 to 100 point scale, and those that generated the 100 highest scores were named to the 2016 list of Most Trustworthy Companies.
