The Friendly City Food Co-op announced last week that is has made major progress in its member-loan campaign with the receipt of several loans totaling nearly $100,000. The loans propel its loan drive beyond the halfway mark.

The Food Co-op plans to raise a total of $600,000 in member loans. To date, it has raised $306,000. With these new loans in place, the Co-op plans to kick off the final stage of its loan drive.

“These loans are a real boost forward for the Co-op,” said Sam Nickels, chair of the member loan campaign. “We’re now in a position to finish the loan drive. There is a lot of passion out there for this special grocery store, and we believe our community and its members can do this.”
