Extreme Rules? Extremely mediocre pay-per-view

Chris Graham

wweAside from the mid-card steel cage match pitting John Cena against Bray Wyatt, the lineup for Sunday’s WWE Extreme Rules pay-per-view could be any Sunday night house show.

Kane vs. Daniel Bryan for the WWE title is nominally the main event. Sorry, but we’ve seen this one several times, dating back to the breakup of their mismatched tag team, Hell No, and it wasn’t good any of the other times.

The six-man tag featuring Evolution – Triple H, Batista and Randy Orton – against The Shield (Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose) should be interesting, but it’s a six-man tag.

Nothing from the rest of the card is better than anything you’ll see on Raw or Smackdown; the only reason to want to see it Sunday night is at least it will be without commercial interruption.

So this is what pay-per-views, sorry, special events, look like in the WWE Network era. Gotcha, WWE.
