A push of the button can land you one of the two motorcycles that Morgan Freeman rode in the movie “Evan Almighty.”

EZ Auction and the Staunton Police Department are auctioning off the motorcyles on eBay – with the items going up for bid at 11 a.m. Thursday.

The choppers were used in the filming of “Evan Almighty” last year. Freeman, who plays God in the summer blockbuster, used the bikes in filming in Downtown Waynesboro.

Staunton City Council member Bruce Elder played a role in getting the bikes into the movie. Elder, who runs a classic-car business in Downtown Staunton, put “Evan Almighty” car coordinator Gary Duncan in touch with police chief Jim Williams, who had retired the 2001 Harley-Davidsons from active use.

The bikes will be offered through eBay for 10 days beginning Thursday morning.

EZ Auction is run by Russell Schmidt, a former contributor to The Augusta Free Press.
