Emmet Street, Rt. 250 Bypass overhead signs to be removed tonight, Tuesday night

Chris Graham

route 29Removal of an overhead sign structure from Route 29 (Emmet Street) between Hydraulic Road and the Route 29/250 interchange and a similar structure on the Route 250 Bypass will require traffic delays overnight tonight and Tuesday.

Between 9 p.m. tonight and 6 a.m. Tuesday there will be complete closures of the southbound lanes for up to 20 minutes at a time while the sign structure is removed. The two outside southbound lanes and the ramp to Route 250 west will be closed completely. The operation will be postponed in the event of inclement weather.

During the directional closures traffic will be controlled by police officers and patrol cruisers. Motorists heading to the Route 250 Bypass west should follow Route 29 south to Barracks Road and turn right. Take Barracks Road west to the Route 250 Bypass interchange.

A similar operation on Tuesday night will remove the overhead sign on the Route 250 Bypass just west of the Route 29-250 interchange. Motorists should expect lane closures and complete stops of traffic during that work as well.

Motorists should be alert for directional signs and traffic controls as they approach the work zone, slow down and be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

Information about Culpeper District activities that will affect traffic is also available on Twitter at @VaDOTCULP and on VDOT’s website at: www.virginiadot.org/travel/travel_alerts/culpeper/default.asp.
