Chris Graham

The bridge over Elk Run on Route 733 (Moffett Branch Road) in Augusta County has been closed by the Virginia Department of Transportation on Tuesday, Oct. 16.  This location is 0.6-mile south of Route 835 to 0.9-mile north of Route 734 in Augusta County.

An inspection of the bridge show repairs are needed to sustain traffic loads of three tons or less.

Repair plans are being developed by the VDOT Staunton District structure and bridge engineer.  A timeline for repairs will be announced in the near future.

Motorists can use the following routes for a detour:

Dudley Farm Road to Union Church Road to Hupman Road.

This road has an average daily traffic volume of 90 vehicles per day.
