Election 2025: Guide: In-person early voting opens on Friday in Virginia

If you are looking to vote early and in person for the Nov. 4 general election in Virginia, your local registrar should offer hours beginning this Friday and running through Sat., Nov. 1.

Voting locations and hours vary by jurisdiction.

Curbside voting is available for residents over 65 or those with disabilities.

Virginians will vote for:

  • Governor
  • Lieutenant Governor
  • Attorney General
  • House of Delegates
  • Local offices

ICYMI: Meet the candidates


Any registered voter can request an absentee ballot in person, by mail, online or by contacting their general registrar’s office. The deadline to request a mailed absentee ballot is Oct. 24. Absentee ballots returned by mail must be postmarked no later than Nov. 4 and received by noon on Nov. 7.

Save the dates


  • Sept. 19 – Early voting begins
  • Oct. 24 – Deadline to register to vote and cast a regular ballot
  • Oct. 24 – Last day to request an absentee ballot by mail or online
  • Oct. 25 – Same-day registration begins. Anyone registering and voting at the same time will have to cast a provisional ballot.
  • Nov. 1 – Last day of early voting
  • Nov. 4 – Election Day
  • Nov. 7 – All mailed ballots must be received by the general registrar’s office by noon.
  • Nov. 14 – Deadline for local electoral board to certify provisional ballots
  • Dec. 1 – State Board of Elections certifies results
