vmiErin Dierickx has joined the VMI women’s soccer coaching staff as a volunteer assistant, according to information released by the program Wednesday afternoon.

Dierickx comes to VMI from Dixie State University in St. George, Utah, where she spent a season as an assistant coach at the Division II institution. There, Dierickx developed and implemented new year-round conditioning program and assessments and also led daily team technical training exercises. She was also responsible for portions of recruitment, as well as film analysis and academic monitoring.

Dierickx was also an adjunct instructor, teaching in the Health and Human Performance curriculum, while at Dixie State.

“Erin is a great addition to our coaching staff,” said VMI head coach Chris Bergmann. “She brings a wealth of knowledge in several different areas from exercise performance and body wellness to dynamic technical training enhancement. Erin has a tireless work ethic and great enthusiasm, along with some great recruiting niches from the west coast. We are very excited to have her join our staff.”

Dierickx’s experience includes time as the technical director and speed and agility coach for the Heat Football Club in Utah, as well as the head coach for the 2002 ODP team in Nevada. She was the head coach for Sereno Soccer Club (NPL 2003) in Arizona, as well as the head coach for Davenport West High School for nearly 18 months in 2014-2015.

Dierickx began her coaching career as an assistant at her alma mater, St. Ambrose University, in 2014. She holds an E license from the U.S. Soccer Federation and is a specialist certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

Dierickx was a four-year starter at St. Ambrose, where she led her team to two national tournament bids and was a first team all-conference honoree. She also played for the Quad City Eagles in the WPSL in 2015.

She received her Bachelor’s Degree with honors in 2013 and a Master’s in Exercise and Wellness from Arizona State in 2017.
