Del. Sam Rasoul statement on concealed carry reform

Chris Graham

Rasoul HeadshotDel. Sam Rasoul (D-Roanoke) has released the following statement with regard to today’s announcement that Virginia will no longer honor concealed carry reciprocity agreements with 25 states that have more lax concealed carry restrictions than Virginia:

“I agree with State Police Superintendent David Flaherty that those with a history of inpatient mental health treatment or stalking who cannot obtain a concealed carry permit in Virginia today should not be able to go to another state, obtain a permit, come back to Virginia, and have it be recognized. I hope other states will do more to prevent concealed carry permits from landing in the hands of those with dangerous inpatient mental health histories so that we can go back to honoring those reciprocity agreements here.”
